More information
Spend the day learning about the incredible history of London’s transport system. Playing a big role in the city of London today, let’s reflect on the past and see its significance even during World War II. With your entry ticket, you’ll have full access to each of the galleries at the museum as well as any temporary exhibitions that may be taking place. Admire the treasure of information, historic vehicles and fascinating artefacts. Marvel at the posters and maps that have made The London Underground into the iconic design that it is today.
Art Deco: The Golden Age of the Poster Design
Visitors to London Transport Museum’s new exhibition will be able to explore how art deco, a revolutionary visual arts, design and architecture style, influenced its iconic transport posters. With more than 100 original posters from the museum's collection, alongside pieces from significant collections, including the work of architect Charles Holden, who helped change the face of London with his remarkable new Tube station commissions, this exhibition explores how art deco made its mark on London's transport art and design heritage.
Then and now: London’s transport in photographs
This new photographic display explores how public transport in London has evolved amid social change. Visitors will be able to compare scenes from the capital’s past with the present day, revealing the major influence transport infrastructure has had on the city’s development. The exhibition features 40 striking photographs, bringing together historical images from the Museum’s collection – some dating back to the 19th century – alongside newly commissioned contemporary images by photographer and TfL Train Driver, Anne Maningas.
